Q: Where do I get my trophy replica?
A: We recommend Advanced Taxidermy and Wildlife Design to create the synthetic mount of your trophy fish. For an accurate reproduction of your trophy fish, they will require a good quality (be sure the entire fish is in the frame; consider fill flash) broad-side view of your trophy fish along with an accurate length and girth (refer to Photographing Your Catch.)
Q: How much does a fishing licence cost?
A: A fishing licence costs $42.80/week* or $32.10/3 days*.
*Prices are in Canadian funds.
Q: Should I consider purchasing travel insurance for my trip to northern Canada?
A: This answer depends a lot on your personal and professional obligations. Your financial and time investment into this trip is substantial and travel insurance provides a degree of security for protection against the unforeseen misadventures that can happen. A recommended source of travel insurance for the hunter or fisher is Sportsman’s Travel Insurance sponsored by Travel Guard Insurance.
Q: Do I need a U.S. passport to travel to or from Canada?
A: Though passports are the document of choice for travel, a passport is NOT presently required for travel to or from Canada. Passports are the most widely accepted proof of identity and citizenship. The recently announced plan by the U.S.A. to require citizens returning from Canada to have a passport does not go into effect until December 31, 2007. Presently, all that is required is a birth certificate and drivers license.

On April 5th, the United States Government announced the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requiring all visitors to and from the Americas, including Canadian citizens, to present a passport or other accepted secure document (still to be determined by the United States) to enter the United States by December 31st, 2007.

The WHTI will be implemented in three phases as follows:

December 31st, 2006 - All citizens (including Canadians and Americans) traveling by air or sea to, from or through the United States will require passports

December 31st, 2007 - All citizens (including Canadians and Americans) traveling by air, sea or land to, from or through the United States will require passports

For further information on United States policy, or how to obtain a U.S. passport, refer to this web site: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.
Q: Can I get to Yellowknife and into the Lodge in one day?
A: Presently, you should plan on spending the night in Yellowknife prior to flying in to Aylmer Lake Lodge or outpost camps, and again, upon your departure from the lake back to Yellowknife. We don’t want you to miss the floatplane trip to the lake on the scheduled fly-in day, as this would result in an additional cost to you should you have to book a private floatplane trip into the lake. Because of weather concerns, we recommend you not try and book a flight on the day you leave Aylmer Lake. Occasionally, weather-related delays prevent the floatplane from returning to Yellowknife exactly as scheduled. We will be glad to assist you with your travel arrangements to and from the Lodge.
